The Limestone Coast is a unique geological area situated in the ‘South-East’ of South Australia. For over 25 million years the Limestone Coast region was submerged beneath the Southern Ocean. As a result limestone bedrock was formed which is now responsible for many of the region’s unique features. This includes the honeycomb system of caves some layered with fossils of Australia's Mega Fauna. Also the rich terra rossa soil and the finely filtered aquifers which yield ‘almost pure’ water contribute to the success of the world-renowned Coonawarra wines. The area is also well known for its ‘fine food’ industry producing premium beef, lamb, duck, rabbit, venison, emu, goat, lobster, barramundi, wine and of course, olive oil.
